How was Hanuman Ji’s marriage consummated?
There were unique circumstances surrounding Hanuman Ji’s marriage. The Parashar Samhita has an account of this occurrence. The narrative goes that Lord Hanuman chose Lord Surya as his guru. Surya Dev wished to impart his knowledge of the nine Vidyas to Hanuman ji.
Hanuman ji learned five of the Vidyas from the Sun God, but only a married person could learn the other four. Sun God recommended that Hanuman ji be married in order to resolve this issue.
Hanuman Ji’s vow of chastity and marriage
Hanuman Ji first opposed this marriage. He disliked the thought of getting married and preferred to stay single. However, the Sun God clarified to him that religious observance and knowledge acquisition depend on this union.
The Sun God also promised that Suvarchala, his bride, would do penance after marriage and once again become a part of the Sun God’s brilliance. Hanuman Ji agreed to the marriage after hearing this.
Suvarchala, the Sun God’s pious and bright daughter, was therefore Hanuman Ji’s wife. Hanuman Ji remained faithful to his pledge of chastity even after being married. By immersing herself in penance after marriage, his wife Suvarchala likewise achieved a particular position.
