The birth tale of Kartikeya

The Skanda Purana has a thorough account of Kartikeya’s birth. The myth goes that Lord Shiva was very upset and furious when Goddess Sati committed suicide. The whole creation became unstable as a result of his violent shape, and the demons began exploiting this circumstance at the same moment.

Brahma ji had blessed Tarakasur, a demon, and he was now unbeatable. He spread evil across the cosmos and became so strong that even the gods were terrified of him. Brahma Ji informed the gods that only Lord Shiva’s son would be able to slay Tarakasur in this desperate scenario.

Kartikeya’s birth and Mahadev and Parvati’s Marriage

Following this prophecy, the gods made the decision to set up Lord Shiva’s marriage. Mahadev later wedded Parvati, the goddess. But for thousands of years after being married, they had no offspring.

After a while, on Shashthi Tithi, Kartikeya emerged from Shiva under unusual circumstances. He was nursed by six moms since he was born with six faces. As a result, another name for him was Shanmukh, which means “six-faced.”

Kartikeya rose to become the gods’ leader

All of the gods came to Lord Shiva after learning of Kartikeya’s birth and asked him to slay Tarakasur right away as he had turned into a menace to the cosmos.

Despite his best efforts, Lord Shiva was unable to destroy Tarakasura. Mahadev then recalled Kartikeya, his son.

Kartikeya was an amazing and very intelligent fighter. When he arrived on the battlefield, the demons were in disarray. Despite Tarakasura’s greatest efforts, he was unable to injure Kartikeya. At last, Kartikeya used his heavenly might to murder Tarakasura.

Kartikeya was appointed Senapati

The gods begged Kartikeya to become the commander of Devsena in order to defend them after Tarakasura’s murder. Kartikeya was therefore proclaimed the monarch of Uttar Kuru Pradesh and appointed the supreme commander of the gods.

In addition to being a superb warrior, Kartikeya is revered as a representation of strength, courage, and wisdom. His purpose in life was to establish Dharma and eradicate Adharma. He was regarded as the commander of the gods because of this.
