Who were Madhu-Kaitabh? How did Lord Vishnu kill them?
Madhu-Kaitabh: The force that keeps the world moving forward is Bhagwati Mahamaya. Her influence is the reason why living things develop feelings of devotion, love, and affection. Even Lord Vishnu enters Mahamaya’s Yog Nidra, which has an impact on the creation process. Everyone, from the educated to the common people, is still influenced by her. She produces, nourishes, and destroys this universe of inanimate and living things as needed. She is the Para-Vidya who frees people from the shackles of the world and bestows the bounty of salvation when she is pleased.

Madhu-Kaitabh Demons’ Origin
According to the Durga Saptashati tale, Madhu and Kaitabh, two dreadful demons, were created from the dirt in Lord Vishnu’s ears while he was engrossed in Yog Nidra. They were both quite strong and conceited. As soon as they were created, they began wreaking havoc everywhere and killed Brahmaji, who was sitting in Lord Vishnu’s navel.
The Arrival of Maa Mahamaya and the Prayer of Brahmaji
When Brahmaji saw Lord Vishnu sleeping, he grew concerned. He thanked Maa Yog Nidra to awaken Lord Vishnu since he did not see a way out of the demons’ horrors. “He said—”
“Oh Goddess! The cosmos is yours to own and control. In addition to nurturing, you also cause devastation. Please awaken Lord Vishnu and give him the strength to defeat these ferocious demons.
Lord Vishnu’s Yog Nidra came to an end when Maa Mahamaya showed up in response to Brahmaji’s plea. When Lord Vishnu awoke, he noticed that Brahmaji was going to be attacked by Madhu-Kaitabh. He started fighting those demons right away.
The Intense Conflict between Madhu-Kaitabh and Lord Vishnu
The fight was intense. Additionally, Madhu-Kaitabh demons had great strength and were putting up a fierce struggle against Lord Vishnu. Thousands of years passed throughout this conflict, yet no one was prepared to concede.
Ultimately, Mother Mahamaya used her illusory influence to make the demons seem to be false. The devils, enamored, took pride and addressed Lord Vishnu, saying—
“Oh Vishnu! Your courage has really delighted us. Request a boon from us.
Grinning, Lord Vishnu uttered—
“I will kill you if you are happy with me.”
The demons saw nothing but water as they gazed about. They believed that they would have accepted dying in a solid location on Earth. Then they addressed Lord Vishnu, saying—
“Kill us wherever there is dry land.”
Lord Vishnu’s Destruction of Madhu-Kaitabh
Lord Vishnu used his illusion to solve the problem right away. He forced Madhu-Kaitabh to fall on his enormous thighs, which he depicted as dry ground, and used his chakra to chop off their heads. As a result, the gods were no longer afraid, and these monsters were vanquished.
The Significance of Mahamaya
This tale demonstrates that Maa Mahamaya is the force that governs this universe. She sometimes makes an appearance, destroying evil and defending Christianity. She eliminates the demon forces and provides sanctuary to her adherents by dispersing her form around the earth in many shapes.
